Bible Quizzing - 1st-6th graders

  • WFC

Bible quizzing helps the Bible come alive for kids through weekly lessons and occasional quiz meets against other area churches. This year, our focus is I and II Samuel. We’ll study many of the familiar Bible stories starting with Hannah, then the reign of King Saul and of course David.
We will meet weekly on Sunday afternoons, beginning August 21 through March 5, 3:30-5:00pm in  room 218 & 219

Our goal is to help your child grow in relationship with God by engaging in the study of His Word. We’ll discuss how the stories we’re reading of people who lived thousands of years ago can be applied to our own lives.

Quiz meets will be held at area churches at various times throughout the season.

For more information, contact Julie Hardison at julie.hardison@gmail.com or 913-908-8533.
An orientation meeting for kids and parents will be held on August 14 at 6:00 in the Community Room.

Each meeting will include eating an uninterrupted hot breakfast, time to catch up and unwind with other moms, listening to an encouraging message about topics from everyday life, and a discussion with a small group of women about how those things are relevant in your life.

We want every mom to come as they are, whether in sweatpants or a prom dress, and know that there are other women who are currently in your walk of life or have been there and can help walk you through. We hope that you will come and enjoy building friendships with other moms just like you!

Family Baptism Celebration

  • WFC North Sanctuary

Kids (1st-5th) and students (6th-12th), and their families are invited to join us for a night of worship, baptism and a family-friendly message that will challenge all of us to follow Jesus in a deeper way. Baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have accepted Christ and are now walking with Him. Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. A reception will follow the baptisms.

NOTE: Prior to being baptized all kids 1st-5th grade need to attend a baptism class:

October 23 | 11a-12p | Community Room

November 6 | 5-6p | Community Room

For more information, contact Andrea Most at amost@westsidefamilychurch.com or call 890-4212.

“Intentional Parenting” Seminar with Doug Fields

  • WFC

Parents have dreams for their children and hopes filled with the best of intentions.  However, at some point, parents move from DREAMS to DUCT TAPE, simply hoping that everything will just stay stuck together and their kids won’t fall apart.

Raising kids is a difficult challenge and it requires a plan.  Without a plan, parents often default to what we call “Quick-Fix Parenting”; because, let’s be honest, it’s just a lot easier to try to solve the immediate problems rather than deal with the deeper and more important issues. Surviving each day is much easier than taking the time and energy to consider how your current parenting actions are impacting a child’s future. Unfortunately, quick and easy isn’t the same as good and effective. Join us as Doug Fields shares key ways we can be that intentional parent.  It’s NEVER too early to start?

·      Do you want to see your children display confidence?

·      Do you want to see your children develop character?

·      Do you want to see your children have strong convictions?

·      Do you want to see your children express compassion?

·      Ultimately, do you want to see your children grow up to be competent young adults?

If you said yes to any of these questions you will not want to miss our Intentional parenting seminar on Sunday October 16th.

Childcare is provided but limited.

Women : Gideon Study Begins

When we hear the name Gideon, most of us think about his 300 soldiers or a fleece spread beneath the evening sky. But Gideon's story is so much bigger than that. This is a story about God and His people—His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of, even through, their weakness.

This 7-session study will encourage you to recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of ignoring, neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, learn to see them as the gifts given specifically and strategically by God. If you've ever felt insufficient, ill-equipped, incompetent, or outnumbered, this study is for you.
