For eight weeks we’ll be journeying through the fruit of the Spirit, which includes nine different characteristics. The Spirit empowers us to become people full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He empowers us to become the people we were made to be. If we pay attention, we might just catch a glimpse of Jesus, the person we’re becoming more and more like by the power of the Spirit.

Keeping Kids Safe Online provides resources and awareness surrounding e-safety. The content covers electronic safety concepts, including gaming systems, music devices, and other wireless internet communications.

No software is 100% effective at protecting our kids, so this class teaches you how to have age-appropriate conversations with your child.

This presentation was designed by Sunflower House, Overland Park Police Department, and FBI Cyber Crime Task Force. Adults only (18+)

Lunch is provided, and childcare is available for a small fee.

A healthy Christian life is one of continuing spiritual, emotional, and relational growth, but sometimes we feel stuck or stagnated at one stage of the journey.

Journey with Jesus is a 6-week experience to help you get unstuck and identify the next steps you need to take to grow emotionally and spiritually—no matter where you are or how long you’ve been following Jesus.

Serving as a group can be a very rewarding experience, and the impact on our store is huge! Adelante Thrift has volunteer opportunities six days of the week that are perfect for groups of various sizes and ages.  Many groups make serving at Adelante Thrift a regular activity.  Partnership and collaboration are the ingredients to sustainable community development.  Adelante Thrift offers service opportunities for individuals, groups, churches, schools and businesses six days of the week.  From sorting to cleaning or helping our customers, there's a spot for everyone!

Many refugees come to the country with little more than papers. Thrift’s low costs allow people, no matter where they come from, to have the dignity of providing for themselves and their families and knowing that they are part of a community. There was also a need for a thrift store as resettlement was booming and there was only one other thrift store in the area. Finally, thrift stores bring others together by functioning through donations, volunteers, and shoppers. And so, our mission drove us to choose thrift as a space where community could be uplifted, supported, and dignified by every person.

One Night is a special monthly gathering designed specifically for Westside students to extend an invitation to their friends. It's an engaging evening of fun, bonding, community, exciting live worship music, and a relevant message. Join us and invite a friend who has never been to MDWK, or hasn't been in a while to tag along!

During our ONE NIGHT event we will also be kicking-off our new 8-week series titled: ‘BECOMING.’ For eight weeks we’ll be journeying through the fruit of the Spirit, which includes nine different characteristics. The issues at the US-Mexico border are complicated, multi-layered, and complex. As we try to raise awareness and fill in the gaps of the immigration story not seen in the media, we invite you to join us for a 3-day Border Encounter. This experience will give you the opportunity to hear from a wide variety of perspectives from US Border Patrol, immigration legal services, migrant shelters, local nonprofits serving in both relief and development capacities, and people seeking asylum in the U.S. This team will be led by Michelle Simbaqueva + Matt Adams.

We can't wait to see you for the Foster Adoption network this spring!  This is a special time for foster and adoptive parents to connect and recharge.  In April, we will hear about Serious Whimsy from Dan Deeble, and in May, we will hear from Dawn Miller, OTR/L from the Mane Motions Therapy Foundation. Continuing education hours will be available.

Resurrection Sunday • 9:30 and 11

On Good Friday, Jesus entered suffering for our sakes. On Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate the Good News: Christ is our cornerstone, the foundation of all we believe! Resurrection Sunday offers an open invitation to all, regardless of where you are in your faith journey, to celebrate and invite Christ into our lives in a fresh and powerful new way.

Lillies...Tulips...and Daisies, OH MY! It's an EGG-ceptional time for an Easter Egg Hunt! Invite some-bunny special to join you and your family for this year's Palm Sunday afternoon of fun at either WFC Lenexa or WFC Speedway campuses. Children will enjoy age-appropriate hunts and other fun items! Please register below so we know you're coming!

Want to participate by serving? We have a couple of opportunities for you! We will be handing out eggs that need to be filled on Sunday, February 18th and returned by March 3rd. You can sign up to serve at the event by distributing the eggs, helping with parking, and more!

Please take a tour with us visiting through Kansas City to discover the why behind volunteering for the organizations we partner with. 
Our vans will leave the Westside Family Parking lot at 8:45 am and make our first stop at Avenue of Life:  A goal as big as ending homelessness for kids in Kansas City cannot be accomplished alone. You will have a 30-minute tour and guide to learn why they utilize a Collective Impact approach to helping Wyandotte County. There you will have a 45-minute volunteering opportunity alongside their ministry.

• 11:30 am we will stop by a local restaurant for lunch.

• 12:30 pm We will be on our way to Mission Adelante for a quick tour and video on their mission focus: We envision a growing multicultural community of disciples making disciples, where people from all places are thriving and using our gifts together to transform our neighborhood and the world for the glory of Jesus Christ. Followed by an hour of volunteering at their local thrift shop which we will also drive you to!

• Our final stop will bring you back to the church by 3:00 pm after a full day of learning and serving! 

Families are welcome. It is a longer day, so please be advised of that when registering children under the age of 10 years old.

After arriving in Cancun, our team will head to the town of Valladolid where we will partner with a local organization and serve alongside our partners in children’s ministry and community projects.
